What does the anaesthetist do?
Your child and anaesthetics.
Anaesthetists are expertly trained doctors specialising in the care of your loved ones during surgery. They make sure that your child’s surgery and recovery is as safe and comfortable as possible.
The anaesthetist stays with your child for the entire duration of the operation, making sure they are anaesthetised and comfortable. During your child’s procedure, your anaesthetist constantly monitors vital functions including breathing, heart rate and oxygen levels. The anaesthetist is also present in the recovery room to ensure that adequate pain relief has been given so that when your child wakes up, he or she will be comfortable.
